8 Ways to Ensure You Still Have a Vacation—Even If You Have to Work : Condé Nast Traveler

There is nothing I like more in life than a vacation – especially when a passport is involved – but I’m not always great about disconnecting. I admit, I love all of my Apple products and they always accompany me on every trip. I like to stay connected to the outside world even when I am soaking up the sun in the tropics. What vacation does allow me is the opportunity to stay connected on my own time; not at the demands required back home. If you are like me and you can’t quite break the tether to technology, check out the 8 Ways to Stay Connected While on Vacation as presented by Conde Nast Travler.

When you vacation, do you stay connected or get lost completely?

Take Your Dog To Work Day – June 22nd

No more sad eyes from your four legged friend when you walk out the door on Friday to go to work because June 22nd is Take Your Dog To Work Day!

That’s right! Fiddo, Champ and Princess are office bound!

Our friends at Pet Sitters International have celebrated Take Your Dog to Work Day since 1999 as a way to honor the great companions dogs make and to encourage their adoption from humane societies, animal shelters and breed rescue clubs. This annual event asks pet lovers to celebrate the humane-canine bond and promote pet adoption by encouraging their employers to support TYDTWDay. Employers are encouraged to open their workplace to employees’ four-legged friends on this one special day.

Check out the great website Pet Sitters International has created in honor of the special event!   Take Your Dog To Work Day * Home.

Send us a photo of your pet at work on Friday! We would love to see what happens when pets rule the office!

Woof!

Bargains to Alaska

Ever thought of going on a cruise in Alaska? This is a great time to book it. I just heard from my contact at Holland America and they are having some great deals right now on their 7 and 14 day cruises. Packages start at $549.

My parents and I cruised Alaska last summer and it was in a word, spectacular! It was by far the most breathtaking scenery we’ve ever seen. I highly recommend Alaska for your next recess.

Experience Recess is now affiliated with Admiral Travel International

We are excited to announce our new affiliation with Admiral Travel International. Being affiliated with a full service travel agency allows Experience Recess to offer our clients a one-stop shop for all of their travel and experiential needs. When searching for a new travel company to affiliate with, it was very important that we found a team that was focused on quality customer service, agent education and luxury travel benefits. We believe we have found the perfect parter with Admiral Travel International and are pleased to be their new West Coast affiliate.

“Founded in 1997, Admiral Travel International (ATI) owners Malaka and Ryan Hilton rapidly established a niche in the luxury travel market by offering one-of-a-kind escorted group departures to Egypt and South Africa.

Today, ATI is recognized as a leading Virtuoso Member agency for the expertise, creativity and exceptional experiences our consultants create for individuals and groups.”

Why Virtuoso?

REST ASSURED, YOU’RE WORKING WITH THE BEST
Only 264 of 30,000 US travel agencies have been invited to join Virtuoso, North America’s most respected network of elite travel professionals.

As a proud member of Virtuoso, Admiral’s team of specialists automatically ranks in the top 1% of travel agencies. Our Virtuoso affiliation represents decades of professional experience, worldwide connections and product, lifestyle & destination expertise. We enjoy personal relationships with the world’s most respected cruise, tour and hotel providers.

When Condé Nast Traveler chose the top 100 travel agents for 1999, 2000 and 2001, the vast majority of them were affiliated with Virtuoso. The Wall Street Journal, The New York Times, USA Today, and CNN repeatedly rely on Virtuoso agents for pertinent travel advice and information.

Travel the World With These 10 Time-Lapse Videos

We recently stumbled across this fantastic site with time-lapse videos of some of the worlds most fabulous places.

Travel the World With These 10 Time-Lapse Videos.

We took a few minutes to enjoy RECESS at our desk. The visual vacation these videos gave us is a great reminder of the words of St. Augustine:

“The world is a book, and those who do not travel read only a page.”

When To Use a Travel Agent!

We are proud of our affiliation with Cadence Travel, which allows us to offer our clients full travel planning capabilities. Cadence is recognized in the travel industry as one of the top agencies internationally. Given that Cadence is a member of the Virtuoso Network, it allows us to offer our clients the best in luxury travel and experiences. We are delighted when we have the chance to work with our clients to plan fabulous adventures, tours to wonderful places and family experiences.

Hasn’t the dawn of the internet caused a decrease in the need for working with a travel agent? NO! We all agree that the internet provides the vehicle to learn about new and exciting places but someone still has to take the time to actually coordinate all the details. On average, we spend 10-12 hours coordinating a 2-week trip overseas for our clients. If you spent 10 hours planning your vacation, you would need a vacation from your vacation planning! Isn’t there something else you would like to do with 10-hours?

As “Architects of Experiences,” we are well positioned to step in to ease the burden of travel planning. Wouldn’t you rather just make one call to your personal concierge to discuss your travel desires rather than being glued to your computer researching which 4-star hotel will meet your needs?

Coordinating your travel plans is just one way we help design a lifestyle management program that allows you to benefit from the gift of time!

We were excited to see Virtuoso CEO Matthew Upchurch, appearing on NBC’s TODAY show this  morning. Matthew was interviewed by the TODAY show’s Ann Curry for a segment titled “When to Use a Travel Agent.”

We look forward to helping you plan your next trip!
