Leprechauns, clovers, and green beer –that’s right, Saint Patrick’s Day-March 17 marks the return of the annual celebration. I do not know about you but I do not need much of a reason to have a good time, and this “Kiss Me I’m Irish” (at least for today!) holiday is a perfect chance to enjoy some recess.

The main event on Sunday takes place downtown in the Gaslamp Quarter with the ShamRock Party (http://www.sandiegoshamrock.com/). Live music, clubs, bars, special Irish food and drinks can all be found at this event.

Celebrating their 2nd St. Paddy’s Day festivities, Company Pub will start with Irish Bacon Bloody Mary’s at 11:00 a.m., followed by all-day corned beef and cabbage. One of the biggest contributions I will ever make to the event industry is to be a professor! I have the great fortune of teaching at the University of San Diego’s Event Management Certificate Program (www.sandiego.edu/emp) and at San Diego Mesa College. I thrive when I can engage and inspire future event professionals. I was very honored when the students selected me as USD Instructor of the Year for 2012. Wow!! Given the quality of my colleagues teaching in the program, this is a very exciting privilege!

Our focus is to help clients to enjoy a little more RECESS in their lives through unique experiences, travel, events, lifestyle, etc. The ball started rolling for RECESS given the success of our self-produced events, such as Sex & The City, Sales & Cocktails, the Obama Inauguration, etc. Likewise, our concierge clients started asking us to plan getaways and stay-cations. We realized what our clients liked was the unique "experience" that all these events offered them without having to plan a detail. People still want to have fun and to play - they just don't have the time to research, coordinate and execute the logistics that it takes to plan something different. Our RECESS blog will become a portal for exposing our clients and friends to experiences we think they should try, products and services we adore, people we think you should know and most importantly give everyone the permission to play more and to create the life they want!
